Cressi-Sub diving and spearfishing equipment

Surely anyone who has anything to do with diving, just keen on scuba diving or, moreover, professionally working in the field of diving industry, knows the products of the world-famous manufacturer of scuba gear and equipment Cressi-Sub. Fins, masks, breathing tubes, wet suits, buoyancy compensators, regulators, instruments, all kinds of accessories with a recognizable logo can always be found on the shelves of the Three Dimensions store, and their undeniable quality and quite reasonable prices make the products of the Italian company very competitive.

Cressi-Sub is a powerful player in the diving market, having a very good position in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean region, which is not surprising, given the historical and geographical aspects. After all, spearfishing, swimming with self-contained breathing apparatus for scientific, military and applied purposes, diving itself in the modern sense were born precisely on these Mediterranean shores of France and Italy. And Cressi, one of the oldest companies that began production of light-diving equipment immediately after the end of World War II, has achieved tremendous success in this field. The founders of the company, brothers Egidio and Nanni Cressi, avid spear-fishing enthusiasts, brought their friend, the hero of Italy, the famous combat swimmer and saboteur Luigi Ferraro, to cooperation. With the money Nanni Cressi, earned on successful banking operations, using Ferraro’s vast experience and knowledge, enriched by joint ideas and creative finds, she launched the production of the most necessary equipment for underwater swimmers – fins and masks, and a little later, wetsuits. The fruitful cooperation lasted for 16 years, after which Ferraro founded his own company Technisub, but Cressi had already firmly established itself in the market by that time and had become a well-known brand with an excellent reputation.
Since the beginning of the 60s, a strategic direction in the company’s activities was adopted – to produce a full line of underwater equipment and equipment. Today, Cressi-Sub is one of the few companies that allows you to completely, from head to toe, put the diver in gear with his logo! Of course, not everything is produced directly in the shops of the company. Components and materials are procured externally (the international division of labor has long been characteristic of market relations), and new patents and new technologies are being bought. But always the company itself is fully responsible for the quality of the final product with its own name, and Cressi approaches this issue with exceptional rigor. Moreover, from the moment of its foundation to the present, the company has been a “family” enterprise, despite the impressive scale of its activities. That is, it exists on the capital of the Kressi family, only their personal money is invested in the business, which does not give the right to make a mistake. The current head of the company, Mr. Antonio Cressi, the son of Nanni, has been involved in manufacturing, development, testing and sales since the age of 17, and for a quarter of a century this practice leader has been best aware of the quality of his products. And he is deservedly proud of him!

Today’s Cressi-Sub catalog impresses with its range and innovations. Two main equipment lines are still being produced – for divers and underwater hunters. Moreover, in the segment of spearfishing at Cressi, the positions are extremely strong, many elements of hunting equipment and weapons have become standards throughout the world, which other manufacturers are trying to imitate. Not without reason outstanding masters and world champions in apnea, freediving and spearfishing made their choice in favor of this brand. Other specialized publications will be better informed about new products in this area of underwater activity, but we will focus on diving equipment.

The main ridge of Cressi-Sub has always been rubber, plastic, silicone and neoprene products. Recall the revolutionary Pinocchio mask in all respects, which has been produced so far (albeit in an updated design and from modern materials) since the mid-50s. The company pays close attention to these products and at the present time fins, masks, breathing tubes, wet suits are distinguished by elegant design, durability, high ergonomics and aesthetic appeal. For their manufacture, only modern materials and technologies, extraordinary design and vibrant color solutions are used. Plastic and silicone elements are manufactured at the main production site in the suburbs of Genoa. Production is almost completely automated and is under computer control. The most expensive components of the process technology are special molds made to order at other enterprises and brought to standard condition using a huge proportion of manual labor. These are all single, unique products worth tens and hundreds of thousands of euros. Putting into production one new model of a mask or fins costs huge financial costs, but the company goes to them.
